TRAINED CARPENTER + WORK ETHIC = EMPLOYMENT
The Atlanta Carpenters Training Center is a Department
of Labor Registered Apprenticeship school with many diverse programs available for study. We are affiliated with the
United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. As one of the largest training facilities, we
offer exclusive hands on training in commercial construction. We strive to educate the next generation of well-rounded,
knowledgeable, Journeyman Carpenters here in Atlanta. We do this through diversity and productivity while implementing
state of the art workforce strategies to all apprentices.
All Applicants wanting to join the Apprenticeship Program should
contact Bill Blackburn to schedule an appointment. Our normal office hours
for applications and interviews are between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You’ll need
to review the Apprenticeship Standards and receive an informational handout. You can usually fill out the
application and get an interview in one visit.
The following items can add to your standing on
our waiting list:
1. Proof of training or experience in Blueprint Reading
School or Business reference (A letter from an employer or teacher)
Welding Certificates and Transcripts
Trade or Vocational School transcripts
For Veterans, a copy of your DD-214
Written proof of work experience in any of the three examination areas. (Carpentry, Scaffold Erection,
If you do not have
any of these items, you can still fill out the application and get the interview, but your placement on the waiting list will
If you have 3-5 years of documented experience as a Carpenter, Scaffold Erector
or Interior Systems Specialist, we will schedule you for a diagnostic exam or hands-on evaluation so that you can be assigned
to the appropriate level.
You must be a member in good standing of Local Union 225 to join the program and must remain a member in
good standing to remain enrolled in the program.
All members of Local Union 225 can attend classes at the Atlanta
Carpenters Training Center for FREE. We encourage Journeyman members to take full advantage
of continuing education to increase their skills and knowledge. This continued training can help you become
more productive on the jobsite which will make you a valuable asset that any company would like to have on their payroll.
